KADEK (Previously a waiter in a big hotel and now closed)
Most hotels remain closed. Kadek lost his job and unable to find work he and his family became desperate. Charities now help him eat month and he is so thankful.
MARIA WAS A TAILOR
Maria was working a tailor before pandemic. She lives in a tiny room with her husband and two teenage sons . Maria is a good example of the devastating rippling effect across the whole economy. The lifeblood was withdrawn from Bali, this knocked everything as the economy collapsed. Maria hasn't been able to work in the last ten months. Yet, she is now so thankful and happy each month . As SOS provide her family with essential foods. And she also keeps volunteering at the same food shelter! Let's all do our bit an give every month helping people like Maria!
PUTU (Worked on the Bali beaches)
Putu is a fun and likable boy who lived at home and supported parents with his beach job. He would teach tourists to surf. With beaches now void of foreign tourists his job and income is gone. So many in Bali are chasing every job and Putu has not been able to work. Thankfully, with monthly food packets this enables him to live and still support elderly parents.
Bali has no security security and many fall through the gaps - your help is so appreciated!
Putu is also so thankful now many charities see the need to provide nutritious meals . SOS can make four nutritious meals for just one dollar! They are masters at this with many strategies to make the very best use of every dollar you provide. So keep it up! The effects of long term diet of mainly rice has causes serious malnutrition in Bali. (see news report below) This has led to stunted growth in dear children and brain disorders.
Putu and others see the end as vaccines now roll out. Key is help is for next four months to get Bali through this unique situation. Thank you all again so much!
